Mila the Husky Requires ER Care, Surgery, and Therapy
Vet Bill: $7,748
Background
Veterinary technician Nici R. knew that pet insurance was a must-have when she brought home Mila, her 16-week-old bundle of joy. But she wasn't prepared to use it just two months later. Nici shared Mila's accident story with Embrace:
"I got a message from a friend that there was a 16-week-old Husky named Mila that wasn't fitting in at her home. I immediately fell in love and drove to get her that same night! The next week I got Embrace Pet Insurance for her as I know Huskies are prone to getting into things. I knew I wanted her covered in case anything were to happen!
Luckily I had Embrace because just two months later I got a call from my significant other that I never thought I'd get: Mila jumped out of the car window when he was rolling away from a stop sign (5 mph). I immediately told him to meet me at the veterinary hospital where I worked. The veterinarian said it was bad and that we needed to take her to the emergency room immediately. We drove to the emergency room right away where X-rays showed that she broke her pelvis in six different locations.
I was devastated. They were not sure they could repair her pelvis, so they ordered a CT scan. I told them to do what they needed to do because she has insurance. After a five-hour surgery, eight weeks of restricted activity, and twelve weeks of massage, laser, and hydrotherapy, she is fully recovered and back to her crazy puppy self. Thanks to Embrace, I didn't have to say goodbye, instead I get to love her and spoil her each and every day for the rest of her life."
