Hip Dysplasia Managed with Complementary Treatments

Background

Seven-year-old Marbles was first diagnosed with hip dysplasia when he was under a year old. He now has it in both hips and his pet parents, Gene and Patty, use a variety of complementary treatments* — including hydrotherapy, acupuncture, rehab, laser therapies, and chiropractic care — to manage it.

Patty shares more of Marbles' story:

"We lost our first lab, Snoopy, to pancreatic cancer. We had no insurance on him. Purchasing Embrace for Marbles as a puppy gave us the confidence that, no matter what the future held for him, he would be covered for all his health needs.

"At just under a year old, Marbles was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Now, at 7 years old, the hip dysplasia is in both of his hips. Also, as a result of him having to compensate for the discomfort he has in his hips, he now has pain in other areas of his body.

In addition, we have sought out pet rehabilitation centers, enabling Marbles to swim and participate in various exercises to keep him limber. Marbles also takes herbal supplements to help with his joints and maintain ease of mobility.
