Cadence the Pug from New Jersey
Cadence the Pug undergoes surgery and radiation.
Vet Bill: $3,740
Background
Cadence's mom, Christine, brought her home from Cordova Pugs, a breeder in Minnesota. It wasn't until September that Christine insured Cadence with Embrace. Then in April, Christine noticed a pinkish tint under the fur on her face, and upon closer inspection, she saw that it was swollen as well. She immediately scheduled an appointment at Whippany Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey.
The following morning a mass was removed and the biopsy determined it was cancerous. While Cadence's cancer is a common one that can be cured by radiation, it is very rare in the oral cavity. Nevertheless, Christine was referred to an oncologist at Animal Emergency and Referral Associates in Fairfield, NJ, who recommended radiation treatment.
Cadence completed radiation treatment at the Veterinary MRI and Radiotherapy Center NJ and is now being checked every 3 months for signs of recurrence. The total vet bill for diagnosis, surgery and radiation therapy was well over $7,000. We've highlighted a couple of the claims that led to that total vet bill below.
Christine says:
"Embrace has absolutely outstanding customer service and has promptly taken care of all my claims through Cadence's ordeal. I can't recommend them enough to anyone who is looking to have insurance for their pet."
