Dachshund/Chihuahua Mix with Diabetes and Cushing's Disease

Background

Nell was a much loved 11-year-old Dachshund mix whose health started to suddenly deteriorate. She was taken to the vet immediately, where the unfortunate news began.

Nell's pet parent, Michele, tells us more:

"We have been happy Embrace Pet Insurance customers and we are so thankful we got Embrace when we did...within months of joining our Nell developed diabetes and, a few months later, Cushing's disease.

Nell was known to everyone as having a loving heart, always wanting her belly rubbed, and she loved to take rides in the car. We were devastated when her health started to decline with these illnesses that cost thousands of dollars to diagnose and treat. Nell would need quarterly blood glucose tests, Cushing's tests, needles, insulin, daily medication, prescription diabetes food, etc. (just to name a few), but luckily, Embrace was there to help with these costs. Nell also developed cataracts and eventually lost her vision. Embrace was there for us through this diagnosis as well, covering the eye exams, hospital exams, and medications.

Shortly after being diagnosed with cataracts, Nell's health started to really deteriorate with many nights and weekends spent at the pet hospital trying to get her diabetes and Cushing's elevated. Months later, Nell's illnesses got the best of her. She developed pancreatitis and we were told that this illness would reduce her way of life even more. We decided, in Nell's best interest, to send her over the Rainbow Bridge. If it weren't for Embrace Pet Insurance, our little princess would not have had such a wonderful life or as much time with us as she did. All our family and friends miss her tremendously and so do we, but Nell will always have a place in our hearts. Thank you Embrace!"
